Omschrijving

As an Environmental (ESG) Project Manager, you will join the quickly growing ESG/ESIA Team in the Netherlands and will be involved in a wide range of projects including ESGDD, ESIA, ESMS, Non-Financial Reporting, Human Rights, Climate Change and strategic corporate advisory.

Members of the ESG/ESIA Team provide Lender Environmental and Social Consultant (LESC) services for Financial Institutions (FI?s), private Equity partners (EP?s) and Project Developers, mostly in developing countries. To implement this ambition with its clients, the team is looking for an enthusiastic and internationally experienced Environmental (ESG) Project Manager with hands-on mentality. The preferred candidate is expected to bring into the Team extensive experience in biodiversity, climate change, air quality, noise, eco-hydrology, waste management, science-based targets and eco-system services.

This role offers you the possibility to be involved a close team, working in international projects, while taking a collaborative and leading role in projects. Being able to manage client?s expectations, external and project stakeholders is key to this role, as well as keeping control of budgets, planning and assure content quality.

The ESG/ESIA Team strongly supports its team members to excel in their personal ambitions, roles and responsibilities. Key tasks for the Environmental (ESG) Project Manager will be:

  • Management of ESIAs, Environmental & Social Management Systems (ESMSs) and ESG DDs, in multidisciplinary and international teams, providing guidance and consistency of approach;
  • Provide client focused project results in line with international standards (such as IFC PS, WB ESF, EIB ESS, etc.), local regulations and best international practices to ensure accurate identification, assessment, management and monitoring of environmental risks, impacts and opportunities;
  • Support global collaboration of Arcadis? ESG/ESIA specialists for knowledge sharing;
  • Employ and extend your professional network for strengthening the Team?s ESG/ESIA proposition; and

Provide mentoring to more junior members of the ESG/ESIA Team. 

We are looking for a colleague having the following requirements:

  • MSc in environmental science, environmental management (or relevant equivalent);
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience of undertaking ESIAs, ESMSs and ESGDDs in sectors such as renewable energy, (linear) infrastructure, ports, water management, nature development, etc.;
  • In-depth knowledge of international environmental (ESG) safeguards systems (IFC PS, WB ESF, etc.);
  • Experience on leading the execution of baseline studies and assessment of environmental risks, impacts and opportunities;
  • Experience of contributing to and leading development/implementation corporate environmental management systems, and ESG-benchmarking would also be beneficial;
  • Extensive network within Dutch and DFIs, IFIs, impact investors and project developers;
  • Preferably a thorough understanding of Non-Financial Reporting methodologies;
  • Team player with demonstrable experience in innovative and entrepreneurial multi-disciplinary teams;
  • The ability to showcase expert knowledge during stakeholder and public engagement processes;
  • Excellent written skills in English and preferably other languages (French, Spanish), with good attention to detail. Dutch is not required but considered an advantage;
  • Flexibility for traveling abroad for project related site visits (depending on COVID-19, on average 3x a year, max 2 weeks per time).
